1914 Milk Tea

I was invited by my friends from Lipa Status and Batangas Republic to check the newly opened milk tea bar in Lipa City beside Jet Hotel on August 14. In the sea of milk tea bars in this town, how can a milk tea bar stand out? The place’s interiors are pleasing to the eyes. However, it is quite a small shop so I’d suggest to better go there in a time which would be less crowded (10am-2pm). Their milk tea is a sweet refreshing drink with harmonious concoction of milk and brown sugar pearls served in a can. I love how soft and chewy the pearls were. The shop also serve cakes, from mocha to ube flavors. It is a sphere of happiness and sugar overload! I will always prefer the taste of milk tea over the interior decoration. The service was okay for me, it was quite busy during the time we went there because it was their opening day so I’d give this 3 out of 5 stars.

Arthur’s Barbeque

I was really quite excited to taste yet another street food in Batangas. The mouth watering tender pieces of marinated fresh off the grilled barbecue skewers. Pork is a typical part of Filipino food and culture. It shouldn’t be a surprise that Arthur Barbeque caters mostly to the best grilled skewers in town – from pork intestines to pig’s blood. I love how the owner of the place who is named Arthur came from humble beginnings. He started as side walk vendor to having a place that can cater to hundreds of people who share their love of street food. I was quite impressed of the humility and generosity of the owner.

Please follow the aroma of the char grilled street food at Arthur and you will not be able to resist ordering bundles of more pork or chicken intestines which is served with a flavorful and spicy vinegar. You can never have enough with just one bite of this sweet and savory skewers. I love the food here, the experience and affordability. I’d rate this as 5 out of 5.
