“I don’t want to repeat my innocence. I want the pleasure of losing it again.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise

I can’t believe I just turned 34. Life goes on so fast and I just want to keep on living and see what’s still out there. I have never felt so alive until the age of 31 so I still feel so young. 🙂

I love birthdays because it’s one way of celebrating life. I am even excited for someone else’s birthday. So for my day, I planned to take my family on an al fresco cafe/restaurant trip in Batangas for lunch, snack and dinner. It was so much fun with our 2 fur babies – Phoebe and Joey! 🙂

Location: Tambo, Lipa
Price per meal: Php160-Php270

It was one sunny day in an alresco farm house in Tambo, Lipa. The place was very cozy serving fresh honey-infused dishes in their own bee farm. I love the fact that it’s pocket and pet friendly with farm to table concept dishes. I would recommend this place to family and friends when they visit in Batangas, they’d really love how relaxing the place is – a lot of greens that I love most. The experience was superb from dishes to customer service. For the food, we ordered garden salad, baby back ribs, fish fillet, tuna teriyaki, grilled porkchop and fresh lemonade. Everything was appetizing especially the back ribs, it was lean and tender! I’d rate this 5 out of 5.

I also got a surprise gift from my sissy, Malen – flowers and cake. Thank you so much! I was so touched! 🙂

On our second al fresco cafe which was recommended by Malen since since it’s near our third destination. We decided to check the place to have some relaxing afternoon snack and iced coffee before our dinner and it did not disappoint! I liked my alcapone donut – it has milky creamy vanilla frosting topped with crunchy nut. Every bite is delightful, it even tasted better than the J.Co Alcapone donut! For my iced macchiato, the espresso still shines through!

The place was also very relaxing, pet friendly, idyllic worthy cafe. I also met one of my college batchmates, Lyka, in this cafe, what are the odds after so many years (13 years!) I met her again! I’d want to go back to this place because it’s perfect for afternoon snacks with friends or family. They also have a mini rooftop place where you can dine for a different romantic vibe. They also serve breakfast as they open around 10 in the morning. I’d rate this 5 out of 5.

The Old Grove Farmstead
Purok 5, U. Mojares St.,
Brgy, Lipa, 4217 Batangas
Price: Php 800/dinner
Accepts cash, debit and credit cards

This was my most favorite place that we visited, I felt like I was in a different countryside. The place was a bliss where you can feed sheep and see ducks in a pond! It was a beautiful sight with flowers and wind chime that purify the energy of the area. I’d love to take my family here for an overnight stay, they’d really love it here. Plus, they also have an al fresco purple restaurant where the air breezes so softly while you wait for your food. The weather in Batangas is slowly getting colder that I have to wear a jacket. It’s really feeling a lot like Christmas here.

For my food, I did not like my steak because it was dry and bland, I’d probably try other dishes next time because my brother, Lewdan and his wife, Malen liked theirs (they ordered baby back ribs and porkchop). The Php800 is inclusive of a meal of your choice from their menu, iced tea, dessert and appetizer. You have to book in advance because most of the time they are booked for events. I’d rate this experience as 4 out of 5 just because I did not like the food but if it’s just the place I’d rate, it’s perfect!

I am very grateful and happy for this day especially I have to celebrate it with my brother and my 2nd family now. I used to not like my life before but I have so many reasons to live it now. Reflecting on the past years, I learned that life is really good and beautiful, if we just see it in a different lens. Life is full of chances, so never be afraid to try to be different. I can’t wait to live more to have this kind of experiences – whether good or bad. To many more healthy years of chances! 🙂
