Date of Trip – July 17, 2022

I have been living in Batangas for a year, but, I have yet to seen the serene beaches in the side of San Juan. My vlogger friends in Lipa made this trip happen. It’s been months since I have seen them and I was excited to be travelling with them again, they are so fun to be around. If you are looking for fun water activities or just relaxing by the beach, Batangas is always the first thing that pops in my mind.

Laiya Batangas is a 1 hour and 45 minutes drive from Lipa, Batangas. It is located in San Juan, north of Lipa. It is known for it’s long stretch of shoreline with cream to white sand beach, pristine waters and awesome fun water activities. It is also known for appealing beach resorts, transient and vacation houses. I can guarantee that you will have both relaxation and recreation when you go to Laiya. It is also close to Manila and their proximity makes it the perfect weekend quick getaway in the city.

Batangas is accepting leisure travelers provided that they follow the standard health protocol. No medical certificates, S-pass, RT-PCR test or vaccination card to be presented to some establishments or checkpoints. But I suggest to always bring your vaccination card and for your protection, have yourself vaccinated.

Getting Around San Juan, Batangas

My friends together with my brother’s family + Joey the Batuchow went on a trip to Laiya, Batangas. We brought 2 cars, sadly Phoebe can’t make it because there was not enough space 😦

Laiya is just north side of Lipa and can be reached within 1 hour and 45 minutes via public vehicle. You can try the Waze App to go there. We went to one of the resorts in Laiya – Cocoons at Club Laiya.

My budget for this trip is Php2,000 inclusive of food, entrance fees and more food haha

Cocoons Club Laiya
Accommodation – Php5,500/night
Day Tour – Php1,200

Before going to beach resorts in Laiya, you must pay ecological fees to Municipal Tourism Office for Php20/person. We were only supposed to go on a trip to have coffee so we were exempted of paying fees.

Cocoons Club Laiya offers a whole new resort experience unlike any other. It is a project by Millennial Resorts which offers unique resort hotel experience. Cocoons is a cylindrical type of rooms and Instagram worthy aesthetics, these rooms are only good for 2 people and has only common comfort room.

They also offer coffee and restaurants al fresco dining options with a lot of fun beach activities for friends and family. Parking is free and what I like most about this resort is they are pet friendly.

We had a day trip at the resort, I was amazed of its cleanliness, staffs are very accommodating and polite, the beach was clean. It was a very relaxing day at the beach with family and friends. I did not bring any swimwear because I thought we were only going to have coffee but if there’s a beach, I have to swim so I still swam.

We had breakfast in the resort, it was just okay because we only ordered iced latte for Php250/pitcher and refreshments like mango shakes. It was very affordable for a pitcher but it was not the coffee I was looking for – strong and tasty. I can’t complain though because I was just having fun at the beach. I did not even pay for the entrance so what more can I ask for! haha

I highly recommend this resort. I’d probably try other restaurants and different types of food being offered. I really love Batangas beaches!

Food in Batangas

Poblacion, Padre Garcia

Before going to Laiya, we went first to our first food stop in Raztapahan located in Padre Garcia. They have variety of breakfast food to choose from – tapsilog, bacsilog, porksilog, chicksilog. Silog is a combination of fried rice + egg

I ordered an enormous sized breakfast called sagad meal with 2 eggs, daing (sun-dried fish) and tapa. It was too much for 1 person and a bit expensive as it cost almost Php200. I did not like the food, everything was too sweet and not even at par to other food establishments I tried in Batangas. I don’t think I’d come back and try this again.

Nuevo Comedor
Javier St., San Juan Batangas
Parking – Yes

After we had fun at the beach, we headed over to have lunch at Nuevo Comedor. Arriving at Nuevo Comedor feels like a trip to Spanish Colonial era. The house turned restaurant was built in 1940, it’s so pleasing to the eyes especially the interior décor of the restaurant. It felt so old but so cool at the same time. It was a relaxing lunch time.

I also like the food that’s served. Filipino food was being served which were very tasty, huge serving and affordable. This is perfect for everyone! I highly recommend that whenever you are in San Juan you drop by this restaurant and you will not regret it. My favorite food were lechon kawali, sinigang, bulalo, and barbecue.

Being in Batangas always makes me come back for more. I love living here and will continue to blog about how I love Batangas even if I am not a local here, my local friends made me feel this is already my home.
